The Wait

by Dan Ward

-1st Verse-

They said he's bound for glory if he'd only slow down
He was searching for the fast lane now look what he has found
Left a wife and family, he left them all behind
He went looking for stars and now it's made him blind

A hard day was his worst enemy
Kept trying to find the answers though he knew what they would be
Sometimes your falling and you can't see the ground
You keep looking for reasons but they never are around

-Chorus-

Just a tragic tale with a predetermined fate
Just another life driving down the interstate
Wanted fame and glory full of lies and hate
One more soul....getting tired of the wait

-2nd Verse-

She heard that time stood still when she stepped on the stage
Then they said it was time for her to turn another page
She couldn't believe it was all over now
One more curtain call, another chance to take a bow

So she caught the night train to the outer edge of town
Recalling the times when luck couldn't turn her down
It's hard to say what happened on that night
But when he took her hand she didn't put up a fight

-Chorus-

Another romance story with Romeo too late
Another time to start a clean slate
One more magic moment on a red letter date
A final chance....getting tired of the wait

-Bridge-

The wait is long and it knows no time
It'll tear you down when things are going fine
Why does it have to be no one knows why
But it'll be there until the day you die

-Solo-

-3rd Verse-

It's hard to say what happens to us all
When we have to watch as another takes the fall
It's been a long time since things have been okay
But I'm too tired of waiting to let this slip away

-Chorus-

Just a tragic tale with a predetermined fate
Just another life driving down the interstate
Wishing on stars that shine too late
One more dream....getting tired of the wait

-Outro-

Growing tired of the wait
Getting tired of the wait
